My approach blends 40 years of clinical expertise with faith-driven compassion, focusing on whole-person care, health education, and community outreach to empower individuals to live longer, healthier, and more purpose-filled lives.
Joanne E. Mitchell-McLaren, APRN, BSN, NP, MSN
Joanne has been included in Marquis Who's Who, selected for her reference value based on her position, accomplishments, and prominence in the field. With over four decades of experience, she most recently served as a patient engagement liaison for an international pharmaceutical company until her semi-retirement in 2023, advocating for patients with diseases like lupus and asthma. Notably, she was among the Top 10% of employees during her tenure.
Before this role, Ms. Mitchell-McLaren worked as a nurse practitioner for over a decade, serving in private practice and at Rochester General Hospital’s emergency department, as well as at Anthony Jordan Health Center, where she focused on care for teenagers and young adults, particularly in pregnancy prevention and sexually transmitted diseases.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York Brockport in 1985 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester in 1992. She is also certified as an advanced practice nurse and a professional patient advocate.
Committed to her field, Ms. Mitchell-McLaren is affiliated with the National Black Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and Chi Eta Phi, among others, and she actively volunteers with organizations such as the Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society.
Proud of her deep-rooted faith and family values, Ms. Mitchell-McLaren emphasizes positivity and perseverance in her practice. She has received multiple accolades, including eight Performance Excellence Awards and recognition from the National Kidney Foundation and the Lupus Foundation of America.
Outside of work, she is married to Mark McLaren and is the mother of two children, Ayana and Atiba. She enjoys tennis, ocean time, cultural exploration, and travel. Although retired, Ms. Mitchell-McLaren aims to continue her advocacy in healthcare and hopes to start a business serving seniors.

In honor of the impact she has had as an advocate, she has received numerous accolades, including eight Performance Excellence Awards and inductions into the President’s Circle. Likewise, she has earned multiple awards from the National Kidney Foundation and the Lupus Foundation of America and RedCross for consistent 3+ gallon donor, Guided by my faith as a christian and child of God, I have faithfully served the homeless for over 30 years- providing nourishment, hope, and Christ’s love one meal at a time.
